The atmosphere and food at La Balsa is well worth the journey. After a few days of cramped and crowded tapas bars, my wife and I felt like a break from downtown Barcelona. High above the city, La Balsa is an oasis that satisfies all of the senses. It’s an elegant wooden building based on Balinese architecture with great views. (Walking into the place, I got the feeling that this is where the locals go on special occasions.) The menu isn’t huge, but everything was perfectly prepared and super tasty. The steak, a bean dish and the rigatoni were memorable, and the desserts were awesome. If you are anywhere near Tibidabo, Parc Guell, or simply want the perfect “destination” restaurant, then La Balsa can’t be beat!
